Representatives of Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony have entered discussions with Liverpool over a possible move to Anfield, according to talkSPORT.

Wilfried Bony

The Ivory Coast international was subjected to a recent £18 million bid from Tottenham, which was rejected by the Swans, who are said to be holding out for at least £20 million. Sources claim that Liverpool could now make a rival bid, with a meeting to discuss terms between the Anfield club and the striker’s agents understood to be taking place.

The 25-year-old Ivorian arrived at Swansea from Vitesse Arnhem for a club record fee of £12 million in July 2013, and proved an immediate success at the Liberty Stadium. Bony made 48 Swans appearances in all competitions last season, scoring 25 goals.

Bony further enhanced his reputation at the World Cup in Brazil, scoring goals in the Ivory Coast’s victory over Japan and their heartbreaking late defeat to Greece which saw the Elephants crash out of the tournament at the first hurdle.

Liverpool have already added to their forward line this summer with the capture of Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, and are also close to completing the signing of Belgian international Divock Origi. However, with the controversial Luis Suarez seemingly heading for the Anfield exit door, Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is said to be seeking further firepower.
