Man City warn Inter off Jovetic
Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic does not look like he will be leaving the Etihad this summer as the club tell Inter that he is not for sale, ESPN is reporting.
Jovetic has not enjoyed the most fruitful first seasons in English football and struggled to make an impact at the Etihad Stadium, often finding himself down the pecking order and behind the likes of Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko.
The forward was plagued by injuries to his hamstring and calf that limited him to just five appearances in total by mid-January, but did find his feet during the second half of the season and managed a combined total of 16 appearance, scoring six goals.
The Montenegro international only scored his first league goal in January during City’s 5-1 demolition of Tottenham Hotspur – but it appears that they do not want to lose the man they paid £22m for last summer.
Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio revealed that the San Siro club had made contact with City over Jovetic’s availability but had been told in frank terms he was not for sale.
However, Ausilio refused to play down their interest that could see a renewed approach for the striker, stating that “the transfer window shuts on September 2 this year”.
