Stoke closing in on Bojan loan deal
Stoke are aiming to sign to sign Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic on a season long loan with the player aiming to kick-start his career, having fallen away in recent times, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
In a somewhat shock move Stoke have held talks with the 23-year-old who was at one time hailed as the ‘new Messi’, with the deal representing a huge coup for the club should it be done.
Bojan has not lived up to the massive expectations poured on his shoulders since becoming the youngest player to represent Barcelona, at 17 years and 19 days old, and has spent the last two seasons on loan – with last term’s spell at Ajax catching the eye of European clubs.
Hughes himself is an ex Barcelona player and has swiftly made his move to try and claim the striker for next season, with his club also keen on a season in the Premier League as they hope it will toughen him up.
Having endured a tough time in recent years it is hoped that a season in the English top flight can rebuild his reputation as one of the most promising players around, after he has failed to add to his single cap for Spain.
Stoke will hope Hughes can bring the best out of the striker, and with the manager having already held a meeting with the player chairman Peter Coates is “quietly confident” of sealing the deal early next week.
