Chelsea have made teenager Josi Quintero their latest signing of the summer after the highly rated youngster made the move from Barcelona to West London, Sky Sports is reporting.

The 17-year-old Ecuadorian was regarded as a great prospect at the Camp Nou, but has opted to leave for England to sign his first professional contract in football.

The Blues reportedly fended off interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal to secure the youth international’s signature, who has been dubbed as the new ‘Antonio Valencia’ by his home country.

Quintero took to Twitter to express his delight at having signed for the Premier League title hopefuls.

“Happy to sign my first professional contract with this great club,” he said, whilst also posting pictures of himself in Chelsea’s training kit.

The player was on the bench for the Chelsea U21 friendly against Sutton United on Saturday, and has been training with the club for several months.

Quintero is known for his excellent turn of pace and dribbling skills, and will be hoping to make an impression on the first team in the next few years.

He becomes Chelsea’s fourth summer signing, following Diego Costa, Cesc Fabregas and fellow youngster Mario Pasalic to Stamford Bridge.
