Crystal Palace agree fees for Campbell and Sigurdsson

Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with relegated Cardiff City for striker Fraizer Campbell, and have also had an offer accepted by Tottenham for attacking midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson, according to the Daily Express.

Personal terms have not been agreed with either player, but the South London club do not anticipate any problems in completing the deals. They have met the £600,000 release clause that was in Campbell’s contract, and they now look likely to sign a player who has already played for five different clubs in the Premier League.

He joined Cardiff in the 2013 January transfer window after falling out of favour at Sunderland, and helped them up to the Premier League. Last season, however, he struggled to score goals as the Bluebirds finished bottom of the table and made an immediate return to the second tier.

As for Sigurdsson, the Eagles would consider him as a major coup, seeing an £8m bid accepted by Spurs, whose manager Mauricio Pochettino seems willing to allow the Icelander to leave. He has spent two seasons with Tottenham, scoring some important goals, but has failed to totally nail down a place in the starting XI since arriving from Hoffenheim.

There has been no official announcement of the activity from any of the three sides involved, but a statement is expected shortly.
