No talks with Arsenal, says Khedira agent

The agent of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira has insisted that he has not had any discussions with Arsenal over a possible move to North London, the Independent has reported.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Germany World Cup winner for some weeks, while Premier League rivals Chelsea are also said to hold an interest, but Jorg Neubauer has claimed that neither club has made an approach, and that negotiations are being held with Real Madrid over a possible new contract.

He said: “We are not in talks with Arsenal. I don’t think a fee can have been agreed, otherwise I would have been told. We are talking to Real Madrid about his contract, but nothing is close to being decided. Sami has just returned from the World Cup and has gone on holiday.”

Khedira did struggle for regular football last season at the Bernabeu, partly due to injury. However, he was often left on the bench with manager Carlo Ancelotti preferring to deploy Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric in the centre of midfield.

Initial reports had suggested that Arsenal, who are looking to sign a natural holding midfield player this summer, agreed a fee for Khedira, but were struggling to meet his wage demands.

Rumours from Emirates that NO DM coming. Arteta and Flamini are going nowhere and Wenger won't add more in the middle. Hope it's not going to be like that, but chances are no Khedira, no Schneiderlin, no Bender.
