Cahill linked with return to Premier League
Premier League duo Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland have been offered the chance to sign former Everton star Tim Cahill on loan from MLS side New York Red Bulls, according to the Daily Mail.
Both clubs are intent on boosting their attacking options ahead of the new season, and they could be tempted by the chance to sign Cahill on a short-term deal. The 34-year-old spent eight seasons at Everton between 2004 and 2012, scoring 68 goals in 278 appearances and becoming their highest scorer in the Premier League era.
More recently, he impressed at the World Cup with Australia in one of the toughest groups. Although his side lost all three of their games, Cahill scored twice including a goal of the tournament contender against the Netherlands in Belo Horizonte.
Neither Sunderland nor QPR have so far signed an attacking player in the transfer window so far, but New York Red Bulls have given them the chance to bring a proven Premier League scorer in to help avoid a fight against relegation.
