Liverpool agree fee for Remy
Liverpool have agreed a fee of around £8m with Queens Park Rangers for the signing of striker Loic Remy, the Daily Telegraph has reported.
The Premier League runners-up hope the deal can be completed in the coming days, with Remy still to agree personal terms and undergo a medical. Manager Brendan Rodgers is hoping it can all be done in time for the Frenchman to be part of their pre-season tour of the United States.
The Reds have beaten off interest from rivals Arsenal, who reportedly pulled out of the deal due to Remy’s wage demands. The former Marseille player could be seen as a replacement for Luis Suarez, whose move to Barcelona is soon to be confirmed.
Remy has been expected to leave QPR throughout the summer after admitting that he wanted a move to a club playing in the Champions League. He has been at the Loftus Road club since January 2013, but spent last season on loan at Newcastle United, finishing as their top scorer.
He now looks set to join Rickie Lambert, Emre Can, Adam Lallana and Lazar Markovic in moving to Liverpool this sumer.
