Hull agree fee for Scottish starlet
Hull City have finally agreed a fee with Dundee United for the transfer of highly-rated full back Andrew Robertson, reports The Hull Daily Mail.
The Tigers have been in dogged pursuit of the 20-year-old this summer, with the latest and seemingly finally successful bid reported to be their fifth offer for the player. While the value of the bid has not been revealed, it is believed United were holding out for at least £3 million.
Hull were keen to push the transfer through with some urgency in order to beat the registration deadline to be included in their squad for the Europa League campaign that gets underway next week. The Tigers travel to face Slovakian Super Liga side FK AS Trenčín in what will be their first ever European game.
Robertson made a stunning impact on Tayside last season after joining Dundee United from Glasgow amateur outfit Queens Park last summer. He made 44 appearances in all competitions and was named as the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year, as well as being named in the Scottish Premier League Team of the Season. His performances were further rewarded with two senior caps with Gordon Strachan’s Scotland side in friendlies against Poland and Nigeria.
Robertson’s move to Hull will be the second high profile departure from Tannadice this summer after Ryan Gould’s big money move to Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon.
