Ospina has signed for Arsenal, says Nice boss
Nice manager Claude Puel has claimed that goalkeeper David Ospina has left the club and joined Arsenal in a £3.2m move, ESPN has reported.
Ospina has been the subject of interest from Arsenal since his impressive performances helped the Colombian national team to the quarter-finals of the World Cup, the furthest they have ever been in the competition.
Neither club has officially announced the deal, but both Puel and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger have suggested that Ospina has completed his move to North London. Puel said: "It is confirmed, yes. At 25 years old it is important for him to experience another championship, so it is a fantastic move for him.
"I think he can take the No. 1 spot at Arsenal because his qualities are very, very strong. He is very good with his feet, with his arms, and he knows soccer. He is a very, very good player."
He will now battle with Wojciech Szczesny to be the first choice goalkeeper at the Emirates Stadium, with previous backup option Lukasz Fabianski having left for Swansea City earlier in the summer. Ospina arrives after playing 135 times for Nice in Ligue 1 in five years with the club.
