Inter to discuss move for Southampton striker Osvaldo
Inter officials are to travel to Southampton on Tuesday to discuss a proposed move for out-of-favour striker Pablo Osvaldo, the Daily Mail has reported.
Osvaldo was made Southampton’s record signing last summer when he joined from Roma for £15m. However, he struggled to make a significant impact in the Premier League, scoring three goals in nine starts, while a series of disciplinary issues have also led to him being sidelined by the club.
He was sent on loan to Juventus and played a part in their Serie A title triumph after he was involved in a training ground brawl at Southampton involving defender Jose Fonte. The Saints are now ready to let him go this summer, although they would like to recoup some of the money they spent for his signature.
The 28-year-old wants to return to Italy, but Inter are hoping to secure a loan deal with a view to a permanent move. Official will hope for positive talks on Tuesday, but Osvaldo is also a reported target for Valencia and Greek champions Olympiakos.
