Arsenal have completed the £12m signing of Southampton right-back Calum Chambers, the Daily Mail has reported.

Calum Chambers

Chambers is the second right-back to move to the Gunners this summer after the purchase of Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle United. They will now compete for a place in manager Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up after Bacary Sagna left on a free transfer, signing for champions Manchester City.

Wenger can also call on England international Carl Jenkinson but the former Charlton Athletic player could be allowed to leave the Emirates Stadium, with West Ham and Hull City said to be monitoring the situation.

Chambers follows the likes of Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren and Luke Shaw out of Southampton, with Lambert, Lallana and Lovren each joining Liverpool and Shaw signing for Manchester United.

Mauricio Pochettino has also left, replacing Tim Sherwood at Tottenham Hotspur, with former Netherlands international Ronald Koeman appointed in his stead.

England Under-19 international Chambers made 23 appearances for the Saints first team, the majority of which came last year as Pochettino took the team to eighth in the Premier League.

Andrew, Arsenal never said, Jankinson will leave the club, that is your own thoughts, but Wenger never said that, there is a possibility that Thomas V might leave Arsenal, so the young boy Chambers is not being groomed for right back, mind you, he is only 19, he is being groomed to play at CB. Not the way you think. That is wrong. Why cant you findout from the club first instead of rushing to conclusion without any word from the club? Your duty as a reporter is to do a reseach first, then you become a good Journalist. Do not write what you think yourself or what you are not sure about.
