Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure has confirmed that he is intending to stay with Manchester City for "as long as possible", according to BBC Sport.

Yaya Toure

The 31-year-old appeared to have had a very public falling out with the club at the end of last season, saying that he felt that he had been “disrespected” by the club’s owners on a post-season trip to the United Arab Emirates.

Further rumours were generated when Toure claimed that everything was up in the air regarding his future, and that he did not know who he would be playing for in the coming season.

Toure’s agent Dimitri Seluk, the source of many of the unsettling quotes, then claimed that in fact Toure was hoping to secure a “job for life” with City, and Toure confirmed this, saying: “For me I was always quiet and my decision is that I will stay at Manchester City for as long as possible.”

Toure joined City from Barcelona in 2010 for a fee of around £24 million. To date he has made 183 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, scoring 52 goals. He has also collected two Premier League winners’ medals as well as lifting the the FA Cup and Capital One Cup.

Toure, who holds the fifth highest number of international caps for Ivory Coast, is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2017.
