Quintero will cost £32m, Arsenal told

Friday 01 August 2014

Arsenal have been warned by FC Porto that winger Juan Quintero will not be sold unless they meet his release clause of £32m, the Daily Express has reported.

Juan Quintero

The Gunners have registered an interest in Quintero after his performances for Colombia at the World Cup, where he scored once as he helped his country to their first ever quarter-final appearance. They face competition from clubs in Spain, and the player has also been linked with Premier League rivals Manchester United.

He only joined Porto last summer from Italian side Pescara, and he went on to score four goals in 34 outings during his first season at the club, as they finished in a disappointing third place in the Portuguese league.

There have been reports in recent days that Arsenal had agreed a £16m fee for Quintero, but his agent Ricardo Callerri has insisted that his release clause must be met if Porto are to sell. He said: "Porto never talked to negotiate Juan Quintero.

"There are clubs interested, there is much interest in the player, the clubs in Spain and England, but to leave would be one willing to pay the termination clause of the club."
