Man City line up Lampard loan
Manchester City are in talks with Frank Lampard over a return to the Premier League with the player now signed for their MLS Franchise New York City, according to Sky Sports.
Lampard joined New York on a free transfer this summer having left Chelsea at the end of his contract, and has been lined up for a six month loan move back to owning club City during the American off season.
Many anticipated that the midfielder would follow other big name signing David Villa to Australia and ply his trade with their sister team Melbourne City, but he appears set to return to England as he looks to gain his fitness and edge before the MLS kick off in March.
While he would be unlikely to command a starting berth against the likes of Yaya Toure or Fernandinho, the experience and presence of the 36-year-old will no doubt be a useful addition – Lampard scored 211 goals in 649 Chelsea appearances to become their leading goal scorer, made all the more impressive considering he is a midfielder.
The Englishman also managed to reach double figures for goals in ten seasons in a row with five of those being 20 goals or more.
Were Lampard to join he would possibly be allowed to sit out City’s clash with former club Chelsea on 21st September after previously stating he would find it difficult to play for another top flight club.
