Barcelona and Brondby monitoring Agger
Barcelona and Brondby are contemplating offers for Liverpool’s Daniel Agger after his unsettled position was cast into further uncertainty following the £20m arrival of Dejan Lovern, the Daily Mail is reporting.
Agger started just 16 Premier League games last season as he was troubled with hamstring injuries and form, and was said to be considering his future were first team football hard to come by again this season.
The addition of Croatian Lovren has put Agger’s position in further risk as he faces a fight against him, Mamadou Sakho, Kolo Toure, and Martin Skrtel for the two centre back positions.
The 29-year-old has previously refused to rule out a return to Brondy where he began his career, and a major shareholder at the club recently said they would be willing to ‘everything in their power’ to sign the defender again should there be a possibility of a move.
Barcelona have continuously been linked with the Danish defender but would only proceed with a deal if it suited them, having just splashed around £16m on 30-year-old defender Jeremy Mathieu.
