Rodgers praises Balotelli as Liverpool continue striker search
Brendan Rodgers has admitted he is a fan of controversial Italian Mario Balotelli ahead of Liverpool’s preseason clash with AC Milan, the Daily Mail has reported, with the club still searching for another striker.
Having sold Luis Suarez to Barcelona for £75m the club has splashed its cash this summer to bring in around £89m worth of players in Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert, Lazar Markovic, Emre Can, Dejan Lovren and Divock Origi.
But they are yet to seal a star striker to help the goal scoring burden of Daniel Sturridge, after a proposed £8.5m move for Loic Remy collapsed following a failed medical.
Rodgers described he Italian hit man as a “big talent” but refused to be drawn on any transfers, with Balotelli himself subject of intense speculation that he will return to the Premier League this summer.
The comments have increased speculation of a potential move for the striker.
City let the player leave for homeland Italy and AC Milan back in January of 2013 where he has scored 30 goals in 54 games for the San Siro club.
He is yet to win silverware with AC Milan but in his career has claimed the Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield, along with three Serie A titles and the Champions League.
