West Ham keen on Man Utd winger Zaha
West Ham United are interested in signing out-of-favour Manchester United forward Wilfried Zaha as the look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season, reports the Daily Mail.
After the major setback of seeing talismanic striker Andy Carroll ruled out for four months, Hammers boss Sam Allardyce is somewhat short on forward players, while the likes of Stewart Downing and Matt Jarvis do not have much competition for a place in the starting line-up.
Zaha’s chances of breaking into the Man Utd team for next season were dealt a minor blow when new boss Louis van Gaal said he saw the England international as a striker in his new 3-4-1-2 formation. As a result, he would be going up against Javier Hernandez, Wayne Rooney, Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck for a starting.
Despite being signed for £15m, Zaha has been given very few opportunities to prove himself at Old Trafford. As a result of his frustration at not breaking into the team, he spent the second half of last season on loan at Cardiff City, who went on to suffer relegation.
Allardyce would be happy for Zaha to move to Upton Park on loan, but will try and secure the former Crystal Palace man on a permanent deal. West Ham are also interested in Andrej Kromaric, who impressed last term for Croatian side HNK Rijeka.
