Chelsea loan Oriol Romeu to Stuttgart
Chelsea have once again loaned out midfielder Oriol Romeu after agreeing to a season long switch to Stuttgart, the BBC has reported, with the Spaniard having spent last year away from Stamford Bridge too.
Romeu only signed a new three year deal at the club in July and had been part of Chelsea’s preseason squad before the move to the Bundesliga club was announced.
The 22-year-old has only made 33 appearances for his parent club since joining from Barcelona back in 2011 for a £4.35m fee – he only made two senior appearances for the club and instead spent most of his time playing for Barcelona B in the Spanish second division.
And the Spanish defensive midfielder has only added one single appearance to his name since the previous 33 after he the injured anterior cruciate ligaments of his knee and spent six months on the side lines in December 2012 – he played in Chelsea’s recent 5-0 victory over Wycombe.
He also spent last season out on loan at Spanish club Valencia where he made a total of 18 appearances in all competitions.
