Tuesday 05 August 2014

Queens Park Rangers are on the brink of completing the signing of Cardiff City midfielder Jordon Mutch after a £5m fee was agreed between the two clubs, the Guardian has reported.

Harry Redknapp

The former Birmingham City youngster is to become the second player to make the move from South Wales to Loftus Road this summer, after commanding central defender Steven Caulker, as manager Harry Redknapp continues to prepare for the new Premier League season, which the R’s begin at home to Hull City on August 16.

Mutch was one of the standout performers in a red shirt as Cardiff finished bottom of the Premier League last season and were relegated at the first attempt. The 22-year-old hit seven goals in the top-flight in 2013-14, including a dramatic 25-yard winner away to Fulham deep into stoppage time.

He will now undergo a medical on Tuesday morning ahead of the move, which QPR hope to confirm by the end of the day. Fellow Cardiff midfielder Gary Medel is expected to follow him in leaving the club, but to move to Italy and sign for Inter.
