Tottenham see Thauvin approach rebuffed
Tottenham have seen their approach to sign highly rated French midfielder Florian Thauvin turned away, the Daily Star has reported, with the player also a reported target for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United.
The 21-year-old only moved to Marseille from rivals Lille last summer in a £12m move after he impressed on loan at Bastia, but his superb form across the whole of last season has seen a host of suitors keep tabs on the Frenchman.
And according to reports in France it was Spurs, along with Spanish Champions Atletico Madrid, that approached the French club with an interest in signing the attacking midfielder – only to see this rejected with Marseille declaring no interest in selling.
Thauvin was linked with moves to United and Chelsea as early as last January but remained in Ligue 1 for the rest of the campaign.
The France U21 international managed to score nine goals and create four more in 25 league appearances for the club.
New Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has already sealed deals for Michel Vorm, Ben Davies and Eric Dier this summer but continues to try and improve his squad ahead of the Premier League kick off next weekend.
