Dutch club PSV are said to be open to the idea of selling winger Memphis Depay to Tottenham in order to fund their own transfer activity this summer, the Express is reporting.

PSV are currently locked in talks with FC Porto over a move for Steven Defour but are unable to match the £6m price tag set – and could be willing to let Depay go so their position changes.

According to several reports Spurs are preparing a £15m offer for the 20-year-old who was impressive this summer as the Netherlands claimed third spot at the World Cup in Brazil.

It is thought that former Holland boss Louis van Gaal has advised the youngster to remain with the club for at least one more season to continue his football development but the player has hinted he could make a move should it be the right offer.

Earlier this month Depay had said: “I am enjoying myself at PSV, but if nice clubs from big leagues make an approach, I will of course think about it.

"There is plenty of interest, but staying at PSV is definitely an option.”

PSV are Depay’s only senior club to date, making his breakthrough towards the end of the 2012-13 season and flourishing last term.

He has made 84 appearances for the club so far, scoring 22 goals.
