Liverpool in Falcao enquiry
Liverpool have explored the possibility of signing Colombia international Radamel Falcao from Monaco but are likely to miss out to Real Madrid, the Guardian has reported.
The Reds are alleged to have asked about Falcao earlier this week with Brendan Rodgers considering the options to replace Luis Suarez, who after the World Cup left for Barcelona. Liverpool were thought to be looking to sign Falcao on loan with a view to a future permanent transfer, an arrangement also in the mind of Manchester City.
But Falcao, who previously played for Atletico Madrid, is expected to return to the Spanish capital with Los Blancos, 12 months after he left La Liga for Ligue 1. Falcao netted 70 goals in 91 games for Atletico before moving to Monaco, where a serious knee injury suffered in January limited his contribution and ultimately ruled him out of Colombia’s World Cup squad.
The 28-year-old did manage nine goals in 17 league games before injury struck. Should Falcao move from Monaco to Madrid, he would be the second Colombia international to undertake the journey this summer, after James Rodriguez.
