Man Utd set sights on Cuadrado
Manchester United a prepared to meet the £36m asking price for winger Juan Cuadrado, who Louis van Gaal hopes to make his third signing of the summer, according to the Daily Express.
The 26-year-old’s pace and direct running saw him catch the eye for Colombia at the World Cup as they reached the quarter-finals for the first time in their footballing history before eventually losing out narrowly to hosts Brazil.
That form has provoked interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs, and Man Utd initially came in with a bid of £32m, but Fiorentina are adamant that he would not be sold for less than their asking price, which the Red Devils are now willing to meet.
Fiorentina will hold talks with Cuadrado on Friday regarding his future, and are planning to offer him a more lucrative five-year contract as they look to tempt him to stay in Florence, but could sanction a sale should he reveal a strong desire to leave.
Signed last summer after a successful loan spell, Cuadrado has scored 20 goals in 83 appearances for Fiorentina, but van Gaal is hoping to complete a deal to sign him ahead of Man Utd’s opening Premier League game against Swansea City on August 16.
