Arsenal given hope in Khedira pursuit

Arsenal could be handed the opportunity to sign Real Madrid defensive midfielder Sami Khedira on the cheap, with the Champions League winners aiming to avoid the player leaving on a free transfer next summer, according to the Independent.

Sami Khedira

The German World Cup winner is one of numerous potential targets identified by Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger as he looks to sign a defensive midfielder. Real Madrid have been asking for £24m, but he could now be worth less as the Spanish club look for a sale, with Khedira entering the final year of his contract.

Due to the intense competition for a starting place in the Real Madrid midfield, Khedira is expected to leave the club in the not-too-distant future, but even if Arsenal agree on a fee, they still have Khedira’s high wage demands to overcome, with the 27-year-old reportedly set to ask for a salary in excess of £150,000 per week.

As a result, Wenger may prefer a cheaper option, with long-serving Southampton star Morgan Schneiderlin and highly-rated Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho among his possible alternatives.

Have you not seen that Wenger has come out and said Arsenal were never in to buy Khedira and aren't likely to be? What a waste of your time writing this article.
