Liverpool defender Toure linked with Trabzonspor

Liverpool defender Kolo Toure has reportedly agreed terms with Turkish club Trabzonspor and is set to leave Merseyside after just one season, according to the Metro.

Turkish Football are claiming that the 32-year-old is to hold talks with new Trabzonspor boss Vahid Halilhodzic in the coming week, when the deal will be finalised.

He joined Liverpool in July 2013 following spells in the Premier League with both Arsenal and Manchester City. He made 20 league appearances for the Reds as they finished second, but lost his place in the side towards the end of the season after manager Brendan Rodgers installed Martin Skrtel and Mamadou Sakho is his main centre-back pairing.

With Skrtel and Sakho still at Anfield along with Daniel Agger and new signing Dejan Lovren, Toure could find opportunities limited if he stays at Liverpool, and therefore sees the chance to play regularly in Turkey as an attractive proposition.

Trabzonspor are looking to improve on finishing fourth in last season’s Turkish Super Lig, which was enough to qualify for this season’s Europa League. Halilhodzic became manager after leading Algeria to the second round of the World Cup.
