No offers for Vlaar, insists Lambert

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that he has received no offers yet this summer for central defender and captain Ron Vlaar, Sky Sports has reported.

Ron Vlaar

With only one year left on his contract, Vlaar has been heavily linked with a move away from Villa Park in the wake of his impressive performances for the Netherlands at the World Cup. Southampton are among the clubs said to be interested in the 29-year-old, with their manager Ronald Koeman suggesting that was the case.

When asked about the current situation concerning Vlaar, Lambert criticised Koeman, but revealed that Villa had not received any bids. “The only thing that gave me some concern was people talking about other people’s players, I thought that was wrong,” he said.

“At the moment there has been nothing and I fully expect him to be here.

“I have had a little chat with him and everything is fine. We move on and everything will sort itself out. You are playing a dangerous game if you mention other people’s players. You have to have respect for that.”
