Three clubs chasing Man Utd winger Zaha

Newcastle United are leading the race to sign Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha, who could leave Old Trafford after only a year, according to the Metro.

Wilfried Zaha

Zaha joined Man Utd for £15m from Crystal Palace last summer, but struggled to make an impact under David Moyes and only ended up making four competitive appearances before being sent out on loan to Cardiff City, where he found himself in and out of the starting XI as they were relegated from the top-flight.

Alan Pardew’s side are thought to be weighing up a £7m bid, with Man Utd reportedly happy to accept any attractive offers for the 21-year-old, as they concede that they would struggle to recoup the fee they spent to bring him to the club.

Crystal Palace are said to be keen to bring Zaha back, and he could be tempted after spending the whole of his youth career and footballing development at Selhurst Park before helping them into the Premier League in 2013. He is also hugely popular among the club’s supporters.

Championship club Nottingham Forest are considering whether to table a loan offer, with their boss Stuart Pearce having previously managed Zaha with the England U-21s. Should he move their for the season, he would face intense competition for his place from Andy Reid, Michail Antonio and Chris Burke.
