Leicester plotting ambitious Cambiasso move
Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has confirmed speculation that he is interested in signing Argentinian midfielder Esteban Cambiasso, according to the Daily Star.
Cambiasso has left Italian club Inter Milan on a free this summer after his contract was not renewed and has been linked with many clubs around Europe and the Premier League.
Tottenham were strongly linked with a move earlier in the transfer window but were thought to prefer younger targets and have not made an approach for the player to date.
Pearson on the other hand does want the 33-year-old to bring an added quality to his promoted squad ahead of the big Premier League kick off next weekend.
When asked about the move the Foxes boss refused to rule out his interest – but was unhappy about the information falling into the press’ hands.
He said: “I am not going to say no, because we have [been interested].
“We like to try to do business in the right way and make sure all parties' interests are looked after for the right reason. But for some reason, some balloon head has decided to leak it.”
Cambiasso was at the San Siro with Inter for 10 years and during his time secured five Serie A titles, four Coppa Italias and the 2010 Champions League Trophy.
He is also well known for applying the finish to what is widely regarded as one of the best goals in World Cup history – netting for Argentina at the end of a staggering 25 pass move.
