QPR want Hoddle to plot new formation

Monday 11 August 2014

Queens Park Rangers boss Harry Redknapp wants former England and Tottenham manager Glenn Hoddle to reinvigorate his sides tactics and mastermind a new 3-5-2 formation, the Telegraph is reporting.

Glenn Hoddle

Hoddle has been out of football for eight years since he left the managerial post at Wolverhampton Wanderers but could be set for a first team coaching role at the newly promoted QPR, working directly under Redknapp.

It is thought the QPR manager wants to implement a 3-5-2 formation this season and play with a back three that includes newly signed Rio Ferdinand as a sweeper.

And Hoddle is widely renowned for the formation he successfully adopted during the 1990s and his time with the English national team.

Any appointment is said to be down to Harry Redknapp himself and not the club’s board.

The former Spurs player and manager would not be the first coaching addition Redknapp would have appointed with strong managerial experience.

Steve McClaren worked closely under Redknapp last season until he was offered the post at Derby County, while Steve Cotterill also worked from January for a time before moving to the manager’s job at Bristol City.
