Silva signs new Man City deal
Manchester City have confirmed David Silva has signed a new five-year contract with the Premier League champions, according to Sky Sports.
Silva moved to City in 2010 and is now tied to the club until the summer of 2019. The former Valencia playmaker told City’s official website that he is very happy in his current surroundings. “From the moment I joined four years ago it has felt like a second home to me,” he said.
“On and off the pitch, I feel incredibly content and fulfilled professionally and personally, so why wouldn't I want to stay and keep winning trophies with this fantastic team?
“It was a straightforward decision to extend my stay here and spend my peak years at Manchester City, a club with unbelievable fans who have always supported me.”
Silva has helped City to winning the Premier League title twice in the last three seasons and also lifted the FA Cup with the club in 2011. The Spain international, a World Cup winner in 2010, has made 183 appearances for City, scoring 27 goals, including eight in 40 games last season.
