QPR vs Hull - Premier League preview and team news

Queens Park Rangers mark their return to the Premier League with a home encounter with losing FA Cup finalists Hull City.

A dramatic late goal from Bobby Zamora secured the West London club’s place back among the elite, with Harry Redknapp achieving promotion from the Championship at the first attempt via the play-offs. They look a stronger proposition this time around than in their previous stint in the top-flight, and have an exceptionally tight defence which comprises Richard Dunne and new signing Steven Caulker.

Hull are already up and running for the season, having secured their place in the final qualifying round of the Europa League. Manager Steve Bruce will be hoping that their continental exploits will not harm their chances of survival should they make the group stage, while he suffered a hammer blow in Thursday as striker Shane Long left for Southampton, leaving them somewhat short on the attacking front.

Loic Remy and Adel Taarabt are both back at QPR following loan spells, but will not play a part here. Caulker should make his debut alongside Chile international Mauricio Isla.

After the departure of Long, Nikica Jelavic will be leading the line, with fellow striker Yannick Sagbo also out through suspension. Robert Snodgrass and Andrew Robertson could make their first Premier League appearances for their new club.
