Manchester City are set to not offer star Yaya Toure a new contract with the club despite handing out several others to the key players of their squad, the Daily Star is reporting.

Yaya Toure

It has been a turbulent summer for the relationship between Toure and his club – a series of high profile situations led to intense speculation about his future - and City have risked the wrath of the midfielder once again should this latest move upset him.

New deals have been handed to Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany, Samir Nasri and David Silva, while Edin Dzeko is expected to follow suit in the near future.

Toure however is the highest paid player at the Etihad – currently pocketing £220,000 a week, and City are unwilling to discuss new terms.

Manuel Pellegrini has stated that the player is happy with life in Manchester and is keen to put what happened over the summer behind both parties.

Toure had previously been upset that the club did not wish or celebrate the player’s birthday, while it was also reported that Toure was not granted early leave before heading off to the World Cup to visit his dying brother.
