Having spent last season on loan at Newcastle, Queens Park Rangers striker Loic Remy is not looking to return to the North East permanently according to manager Harry Redknapp, the BBC has reported.

The 27-year-old bagged 14 goals in an impressive season, despite suffering a lengthy lay off because of injury, and Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has expressed his interest in taking the striker on the clubs books permanently.

However Redknapp has revealed that the Frenchman is not keen on a return to the Magpies and is instead looking to move to a club with European football, should a move materialise.

He said: “He didn't want to go back to Newcastle which is a massive club, so unless it's a club in the top seven I don't think he'll go.”

Remy had been on the verge of a transfer to Liverpool but the deal collapsed after it was reported the player had failed his medical – something that Redknapp dismissed.

Instead the striker started QPR’s first game of the season but failed to find the score sheet as the home side lost 1-0 to Hull City.

In QPR colours Remy has only played 15 games scoring six goals in that time – although these were not enough to keep the club in the Premier League the season before last.

Fine mate don't come, the last thing Newcastle want is another self important pet lipped Frenchman, we already have Ben Arfa.
