Arsenal could move for Brazilian Bernard
Arsenal are plotting a loan move for Brazilian playmaker Bernard after he was made available by Shakhtar Donetsk, according to the Metro.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is still on the lookout for attacking reinforcements and could make a move for the diminutive Brazil international after he told his club he would like to move following the current unrest in Ukraine.
And while his club would not allow him to leave in a deal that would prove detrimental to themselves, they are open to a loan move for an initial season in order to benefit all parties involved.
A club source revealed: “To let him go for free or for pennies won’t work.
“In such a situation it is better to give the Brazilian a one year loan.
“Shaktar will then be in a better position to negotiate a subsequent sale.”
The skilful winger has only spent one season in the Ukraine with Shakhtar, making 27 appearances in all competitions last term and scoring two goals.
He started his career at Atletico Miniero in Brazil but was in fact released twice by the club because of his height – a slight five foot four inches.
However he managed to establish himself at the club after a successful loan spell with Democrata and went on to play 100 games for Miniero, bagging 22 goals.
