Premier League clubs alerted as Song made available for loan

Everton, Manchester United and Tottenham are all in the race to sign Barcelona midfielder Alexandre Song for the season after the Spanish club made him available for a free loan, according to the Daily Telegraph.

Alexandre Song

Song is not part of new Barcelona manager Luis Enrique’s plans, and has been told that he can find a new club. His preference is a return to the Premier League, where he began his senior career with Arsenal before leaving for the Nou Camp in August 2012. However, he is a target for several Italian clubs as well as Turkish side Galatasaray.

Roberto Martinez could decide to bring him to Everton if indeed Ross Barkley’s injury is as bad as feared, while his previous understanding with Robin van Persie while the pair were at Arsenal could be a reason why he may move to Old Trafford.

Tottenham are still hopeful of signing primary midfield target Morgan Schneiderlin, but might turn to Song should they admit defeat in their pursuit of the Southampton man.

Each club will be enticed by the chance to bring Song in on loan for free, and the deal comes as the result of the Cameroon international’s struggles since joining Barcelona. He has made just 37 league appearances, and has been unable to get into the team ahead of Sergio Busquets.
