Santi Cazorla believes Arsenal need to be wary of former Chelsea striker Demba Ba when they face Besiktas in their Champions League play-off, ESPN has reported.

Demba Ba

The Gunners meet the Turkish side on Tuesday night in the first-leg of their play-off meeting, the return coming at the Emirates Stadium a week later. Arsene Wenger’s side have never lost a play-off for the Champions League and Cazorla has said that if that record is to continue, they must keep Ba in check.

“He is a great footballer,” the Spain international said of ex-West Ham, Newcastle and Chelsea striker Ba. “He proved that here in Premier League, playing for Newcastle and Chelsea. He is a great signing for Besiktas.

“We better watch out with him and also with all of their players, but he will be a leader for them and we have to be careful because he has scored a few goals against us. If we don't keep our eyes on him then we will be in trouble.”

Ba netted 50 goals in 122 games while in the Premier League, moving to Turkey after 18 months at Stamford Bridge. He scored 14 times in 51 appearances for Chelsea, 29 in 58 for the Magpies and seven in 13 for the Hammers.
