Muller reveals he rejected chance to join United
Germany star Thomas Muller has revealed he turned down what is described as a ‘huge’ offer to join Manchester United, the Daily Star is reporting.
Muller was one of the stars for his country as he helped to land the World cup in Brazil this summer and speculation had grown that he could leave Bayern Munich following his expression of frustration against the rotation policy of Pep Guardiola.
This was further enhanced when the German forward described his relationship with new United manager Louis van Gaal as a “special player-coach” one.
However he spurned the chance to switch the Allianz Arena for Old Trafford after signing a new five-year-deal with the German Champions back in June.
Speaking about the transfer he said: “I was aware that I could earn more by making that transfer.
"The amount that foreign clubs were offering me was astronomical. But Bayern are my club, a change was not an issue for me."
Muller has spent his entire senior career at Bayern Munich since joining their youth set up as a 10-year-old and signing his first pro contract five years ago, given his debut by then boos Van Gaal.
He has made in total 293 appearances for the club and has scored 116 goals.
