Liverpool agree Balotelli fee
Liverpool have reportedly agreed a £16m fee to sign Italy striker Mario Balotelli from Milan, according to Sky Sports.
Reds manager Brendan Rodgers had previously denied interest in signing the former Manchester City forward but it’s now believed that Balotelli is close to a Premier League return.
Balotelli is understood to have said his goodbyes to his Milan teammates and is quoted by Sky Sports as saying: “Today is my last day at Milan. I am going to Liverpool.”
Liverpool are said to be in the market for another striker after the sale of Luis Suarez to Barcelona. Last season’s Premier League runners-up have signed Rickie Lambert from Southampton and Lazar Markovic from Benfica, and have been linked with the likes of Monaco’s Radamel Falcao.
Balotelli scored 30 goals in 80 games during his two-and-a-half years in England, winning the FA Cup, Community Shield and Premier League title. Since returning to Serie A - where he previously represented Inter - the 24-year-old has netted 30 times in 54 appearances. He also has 30 caps and 13 goals for Italy.
