Hull agree Dawson deal 'in principle'

Hull City manager Steve Bruce has revealed the club have agreed a deal ‘in principle’ to sign Tottenham defender Michael Dawson, Sky Sports has reported.

Hull have held an interest in Dawson for most of the summer but saw an approach for Spurs’ club captain rejected and had given up on chasing the 30-year-old.

However it appears a move could now materialise after Tottenham targeted Sevilla centre back Federico Fazio.

Fazio was omitted by the Spanish club for their league opener on Saturday and it has been suggested that his £8m release clause has been met.

Dawson is reportedly reluctant to leave White Hart Lane despite having just one year left to run on his current contract – the year that would see him earn a ten year testimonial game.

Since joining in 2005 from boyhood club Nottingham Forest Dawson has made 324 appearances for the North London club, notching ten goals.

Following the retirement of former defender and captain Ledley King Dawson was awarded the club captaincy and is the longest serving player left at White Hart Lane.
