QPR vs Sunderland - Premier League preview and team news

After a miserable start to the season, Queens Park Rangers are looking to bounce back as they host a Sunderland side that is still to taste defeat.

Loftus Road

The R’s have so far looked anything but a side that came up via the play-offs, as they have lacked inspiration and momentum in their three games so far. Despite the return of Loic Remy, another thing that has been missing is a goal, and the manner of the performance at Burton Albion on Wednesday will have worried Harry Redknapp, who also endured a terrible return to Tottenham as his side went down with a whimper.

Two encouraging performances have yielded two points for Sunderland, needing a late goal to hold West Bromwich Albion before matching Manchester United from start to finish in their opening home match. The Black Cats look a more resilient outfit this time around and will be delighted with their start should they claim all three points here and condemn the bottom club to another loss.

Charlie Austin is likely to return to the QPR attack after recovering from an injury which kept him out at Spurs. New loan signing Eduardo Vargas is still awaiting a work permit, while Alejandro Faurlin is set for a lengthy lay-off after injuring his anterior cruciate ligament.

Sunderland have a fully-fit squad to choose from, and could give starts to wingers Emanuele Giaccherini and Adam Johnson.
