Man Utd agree fee for Ajax star Blind
Manchester United have agreed a fee with Dutch champions Ajax for utility player Daley Blind, according to BBC Sport.
The 24-year-old, who can at left-back or in a defensive midfield role, has been linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer, after performing strongly for the Netherlands at the World Cup under Louis van Gaal. He scored once in Brazil as he helped them to third place.
After returning to training with Ajax, Blind was made to train alone, but the Amsterdam club were still determined to keep him, with director of football Marc Overmars insisting that he would be staying unless the club’s valuation - believed to be in the region of £14m - was met.
Blind still has to agree personal terms and undergo a medical before he becomes a Man Utd player, and should the deal go through he would become their fifth signing of the summer, which would increase their summer spending, which already stands at over £130m.
Last season, Blind won the Eredivisie Player of the Year award, and has made 143 appearances in five and-a-half years at Ajax, scoring a total of three goals.
