Torres set for two year Milan loan

Chelsea flop Fernando Torres appears set for a two year loan to Italy and AC Milan after the two clubs agreed a deal, the BBC has reported.

The Spanish striker has struggled during his time at Stamford Bridge and will look towards Italy to try and rediscover the form that made him one of the most deadly strikers in Europe.

The move is subject to personal terms being agreed and the player passing his medical, as Milan look to replace the departed Mario Balotelli.

Torres never showed what he could do at Chelsea and laboured to a lowly 20 goals in 110 league games for the club, despite managing 65 in 105 for Liverpool and 82 in 214 for Atletico Madrid – he also hit double figures for goals in nine consecutive seasons.

However the 30-year-old was the scorer of a dramatic last gasp goal for the club to reach the final of the 2012 Champions League – which they eventually won.

The Blues signed Torres from rivals Liverpool in what was then a British record transfer fee of £50m but struggles for form saw him slip down the pecking order, and this year the arrival of Diego Costa and return of Didier Drogba saw his chances seem minuscule.

Chelsea appear to have lined up a replacement in Loic Remy after they entered talks with QPR for the striker.
