Assaidi makes Stoke return
Tuesday 02 September 2014
Stoke City have re-signed Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi on loan for the rest of the season, completing the deal late on transfer deadline day, the Guardian.
The Potters had not initially planned to add any new players on Monday, but were forced into the market after Peter Odemwingie picked up a serious knee injury during Saturday’s 1-0 win away to champions Manchester City.
Assaidi has barely featured for Liverpool since joining in the summer of 2012 from Dutch club Heerenveen, but he impressed significantly at the Britannia Stadium last season, and earlier in the summer Stoke had registered an interest in signing him on a permanent basis, but his wage demands were said to be too high for the club’s liking.
The 26-year-old made 25 outings for Stoke last season and scored five goals, including a memorable stoppage time winner at home to Chelsea in December 2013. He now joins Victor Moses in making a loan move to Mark Hughes’ side, and becomes their seventh signing overall after Mame Biram Diouf, Dionatan Teixeira, Phil Bardsley, Bojan Krkic and Steve Sidwell.
