Mexico boss takes swipe at United

Mexico’s national boss Miguel Herrera has hit out at Manchester United for their underuse of striker Javier Hernandez, who completed a deadline day move to Real Madrid on a season long loan, according to the Daily Star.

Hernandez found himself falling down the pecking order following the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson from the club, being used sparingly by David Moyes and finding himself often third choice for Louis van Gaal.

Hernandez in fact won the Sir Matt Busby award for being United’s player of the season in his first campaign but has since struggled to make an impression.

The Mexican, known as ‘Chicharito’, did manage to score 59 goals in 153 appearances from the club – most of these were from the bench.

And after being advised to move earlier in the window by Herrera, the coach has now taken a swipe at United’s use of a striker ‘like no other’.

Herrera said: “I'm pleased because Javier has gone to one of the most important clubs in the world.

“Before he was at United and now his arrival at Real Madrid is phenomenal.

“I think that he will see a lot more action with his new club. There is no striker like him.”

The 26-year-old moved to Old Trafford back in 2010 for an undisclosed fee with the deal being made in secrecy away from the press.

Hernandez previously played for Guadalajara where he scored 29 goals in 80 appearances.
