City agonising over potential Kompany injury
Wednesday 03 September 2014
Manchester City have been left with a tense wait to see the extent of an injury picked up by captain Vincent Kompany on international duty, the Telegraph has reported.
Belgium boss Marc Wilmots broke the news on Twitter that the central defender would miss training today after he was sent for scans on his calf and is now a doubt for their friendly against Australia.
City face a crucial eight days in their campaign – even this early on – as they face Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Chelsea in that time and will hope their man will be fit.
Kompany’s season was hampered by injury throughout last term and a potential injury would leave manager Manuel Pellegrini with somewhat of a head ache going into the crunch clashes.
He could chose to fast track summer signing Eliaquim Mangala into his plans after he decided to gradually introduce the new man into first team action.
Micah Richards has left the club for Fiorentina while there are doubts whether Pellegrini fancies the look of Matija Nastasic after it was reported he was ready to let the Serbian leave in the transfer window.
