Monk: Bony committed to Swansea
Wednesday 03 September 2014
Swansea City manager Garry Monk has rejected the suggestion Wilfried Bony’s mind is elsewhere after a summer that saw him continually linked with a transfer away from the Liberty Stadium, Sky Sports has reported.
Bony moved to Wales last summer and scored 25 goals in all competitions, allegedly catching the eye of clubs in the Premier League and elsewhere. But Monk has insisted the Ivory Coast international never looked to leave the club and believes he is as committed as ever to the Swans.
“Wilf commits very well, he is focused on what we want to do,” Monk said. “If he was coming in and wandering about disillusioned, we would have a problem. But he does not do that, he comes in, commits and is at one with the group. That is all I can ask for.”
Bony has yet to score for Swansea this season but Monk’s side have won all three of their Premier League games regardless, beating Manchester United 2-1 at Old Trafford on the opening day, seeing off newly-promoted Burnley a week later and claiming a second straight home win with a 3-0 triumph against West Bromwich Albion.
