Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that he would like to return to former club Manchester United at some point in the future Sky Sports has reported.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The 29-year-old joined Man Utd from Sporting Lisbon as a teenager in the summer of 2003 and gradually became one of the world’s best players over a six-year stay which saw him win three Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League, two League Cups and the World Club Championship.

He then joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2009 for a then world record transfer fee of £80m, and is currently tied down to a long-term contract. However, talk of a return to Old Trafford has refused to go away, and the Portugal international admits that he does see himself returning to Man Utd in years to come.

He said: “I love Manchester. Everyone knows that – I have said it many times. Manchester is in my heart. I left many good friends there, the supporters are amazing and I wish I can come back one day.

“I am happy here in Real Madrid and have four more years, but in the future you never know because they treated me unbelievably there. I really did love being at Manchester United. Believe me, they will be a good team again. I’m sure of it. It is a great club.”
