Hart taking England positives

Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart admitted England were a little underwhelming in Wednesday’s win over Norway but says it’s important to take the positives from the game with Euro 2016 qualification to start on Monday, Sky Sports has reported.

The Three Lions laboured to victory through a Wayne Rooney penalty in front of a half-full Wembley, with Hart saying after the final whistle that while the performance was far from perfect, there was enough on show to feel good about the national team.

“I thought we were good first half. A little bit slow at the start of the second half, but we dominated the game,” Hart said. “We’d have liked to have scored more, but a win is a win.

“It’s a new campaign, a new start for us and we go to Switzerland confident,” he continued. “We are going to learn from our mistakes, of course, but [the World Cup is] in the past now. The only thing we can do for the good of ourselves and for the good of English football is to move on, be positive and set our sights on France.”

The match was Rooney’s first as the team’s official captain, the Manchester United striker netting his 41st goal for England in the process, having won 96 caps.
