Manchester United news - Hargreaves and Bebe left out, Fergie lines up Ninis, Toshack backs Giggs

By Daniel Tyler

Monday 06 September 2010

Every morning A Different League searches the nations press to bring you the latest goings on at Man Utd. Today:

Hargreaves and Bebe left out.

Manchester United duo Bebe and Owen Hargreaves have been left out of the Red Devils UEFA Champions League squad. United manager Sir Alex Ferguson was allowed to name a 25-man squad but has chosen 24, leaving the pair the high profile causalities. England international Hargreaves has had a torrid time with injury, making just three appearances in the last two seasons. Striker Bebe has been left out due to doubt over his ability to make the quick step into European club football. Ferguson can choose to add to his squad if United reach the knock-out stages.

Fergie lines up Ninis.

Greek wonderkid Sotiris Ninis is set to sign for Manchester United, according to The Mirror. A Different League reported during the World Cup that Red’s boss Sir Alex Ferguson was keeping tabs on the 20-year-old. The Scot sees the talented youngster as the player to add youth and creativity to the Red Devils midfield. An £8m release clause has been found in his contract with Panathinaikos and the English giants are already in talks with the Athens club about bringing the playmaker to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Ryan to reign.

Wales manager John Toshack is set to step down as Wales Head Coach and has recommended Ryan Giggs as his replacement, reports WalesOnline. The ex-Liverpool player has been in charge since 2004 but has failed to qualify for any major tournament. A 1-0 defeat to Montenegro on Friday in the opening Euro qualifier seems to be the last nail in the coffin for Toshack who has been heavily criticised by ex-players throughout his reign. Giggs has said he would like to become Wales manager but with his form still good for Manchester United, it may be too early for the 36-year-old to step take a seat in the dugout.
